Summer in Vercland and Samoens
Unlike some Alpine resorts, Samoens certainly doesn't go into hibernation in the summer months. Once the snow has melted, the village and surrounding mountains take on a different kind of beauty. Of course, the weather warms up too and, with so many activities on offer, it makes for a very appealing alternative destination.
While Samoens in the summertime offers tranquillity and breathtaking scenery, there's no shortage of things to do. If you love the great outdoors, you'll be blown away! Here's a flavour of just some of the activities on offer:
Walking & hiking
Explore the endless trails and peaks of this walker's paradise. Between altitudes of 700m and 3,100m, the Grand Massif and surrounding mountains offer something for all ages and abilities.
The French Alps are a popular mountain biking region. Here in Samoens, nestled between Mont Blanc and Morzine, we have access to both the Grand Massif and neighbouring region of Porte du Soleil.
Climbing & via ferrata
Whether you want to try rock, mountain climbing for the first time or are already accomplished at climbing, Samoens holds loads of opportunities to play around on some rock.
White water sports
Running through Samoens and meandering its way down the valley, the Giffre provides a great source of exhilarating water sports based entertainment during the summer holidays.
There are a number of impressive golfing courses in the area including Les Gets, Les Carroz, Evian and Morzine/Avoriaz. There are also a number of practice ranges including, a driving range over the lake and a putting green.
Samoens truly has much to offer during the summer: paragliding, tennis, open air swimming, archery, horseriding, fishing and high-wire fun for all the family.
